Below is a list of things you can purchase ahead of time and have ready for your new puppy.
1. A pin brush and puppy shampoo. I like the brand Fresh And Clean. I am often asked what I use that makes my puppies smell so good.
2. Puppy crate. The metal kind with a divider. A small will be ok all the way into adulthood. The divider is so that the area is not too large for the puppy while you are potty training. See my section on potty training.
3. An exercise pen for times when puppy has to be left alone for longer than 3 hours.
4. Two nontip bowls for food and water.
5. Pee Pads
6. Toys. Nyla bone and Kong are good brands. Wait till the puppy arrives before you buy toys. It is important that the toy fit his mouth properly. If too big or small they will not play with it.
7. Soft comfortable bed.
8. Harness and a leash. An 8 week old coton will wear an xsmall harness.
9. Dry Kibble and Treats. I feed nutri source small medium breed chicken and rice puppy. I use canned chicken as treats. Much better for the puppy. I use them only for praise. Also have on hand a can of royal canine puppy food just in case puppy is slow to eat at first.
10. Have a vet appointment made within 48 hours of the arrival of your new puppy. He or she must get a wellness check by a vet of your choice. I will provide a wellness check by my vet within 48 hours of your puppies departure.
